Our free SI-UBL validator checks a Dutch e-invoice under SI-UBL 2.0 or NLCIUS. Drop your XML file below: we check the structure and also the official Dutch business rules. Then you see every error with its rule code, while the file never leaves your browser.

UBL, CII or another e-invoice format (.xml, .p7m), or a PDF with embedded XML (Factur-X, ZUGFeRD). The file stays on your own computer.
What does the SI-UBL validator check?
- Structure: first, we check the file against the official schema, UBL 2.1 for SI-UBL or UN/CEFACT CII for NLCIUS in CII.
- European rules: next, every invoice must meet the core rules of EN 16931, such as mandatory fields and correct totals.
- Dutch rules: in addition, we apply the official SI-UBL 2.0 rules (release 2.0.3.13), and the NLCIUS rules for CII. Besides, we can check the G-account extension of SI-UBL.
- Peppol BIS with Dutch rules: finally, we check a Peppol BIS invoice from a Dutch supplier with the Dutch Peppol rules included.
What is SI-UBL?
NLCIUS is the Dutch version of the European standard EN 16931. In turn, SI-UBL 2.0 is its implementation in UBL, which Simplerinvoicing maintains. Moreover, the Dutch government accepts SI-UBL 2.0 next to Peppol BIS Billing 3.0 for e-invoices from suppliers, which arrive via Peppol.
SI-UBL or Peppol BIS?
For Belgian businesses, Peppol BIS Billing 3.0 is the standard, also for invoices to Dutch customers via Peppol. You mostly receive an SI-UBL invoice from Dutch suppliers, because their software targets the Dutch market. Not sure which format your file has? Then keep the validator on “Automatic”: it recognises the format itself.
What the SI-UBL validator does not check
We do not check whether an OIN, Chamber of Commerce number or Peppol address exists. Besides, the extra checks of an Access Point or a receiving public body are outside its scope. The result is therefore an aid, not a guarantee that the recipient will accept the invoice.
Frequently asked questions about the SI-UBL validator
Is the SI-UBL validator free?
Yes. Moreover, you need no account, because we process the file only in your browser.
Which SI-UBL version do you check?
SI-UBL 2.0, with the official rules of release 2.0.3.13, and NLCIUS for CII. The validator shows the version used with every result.
Does this also work for a Belgian Peppol invoice?
Yes, but then choose Belgium or “Automatic”. Belgian invoices follow the rules of Peppol BIS Billing 3.0.
Belgian customer?
Invoices to Belgian businesses travel via Peppol in the Peppol BIS Billing 3.0 format. For those invoices, use our Peppol validator instead, because it applies the official Peppol rules.
