What does the Peppol checker show?
Enter a company number or VAT number and the Peppol checker looks it up in the official Peppol registries. You then see:
- Registered or not: is the company on Peppol under its company number (0208) or its VAT number (9925)?
- SMP: the service provider’s server that holds the registration.
- Can receive: which documents the company accepts via Peppol, such as invoices and credit notes.
You can also look up a company in another country with its full Peppol ID. The format is explained on our Peppol ID lookup page. Not sure whether a Belgian company must be able to receive e-invoices? Then take the test Is e-invoicing mandatory?.

Frequently asked questions about the Peppol checker
Which numbers can I check?
Belgian company numbers (KBO/BCE) and Belgian VAT numbers, for example 0123.456.789 or BE0123456789. For a company in another country, enter its full Peppol ID, for example 0106:12345678 for a Dutch KvK number.
What is a Peppol ID?
The unique address of a company on the Peppol network. Anyone who wants to receive e-invoices registers with such an ID through a Peppol service provider. In Belgium it is almost always based on the company number.
What do 0208 and 9925 mean?
They are the identifier schemes. 0208 stands for the Belgian company number and 9925 for the Belgian VAT number. The checker therefore looks up both.
We did not find the company. What now?
Then it cannot receive e-invoices via Peppol yet, or it uses another identifier. Ask your customer for their Peppol ID or their invoicing software. You can also search by name in the Peppol Directory.
What does “Can receive” show?
The document types the company has registered, such as invoices and credit notes under Peppol BIS Billing 3.0, self-billing or orders. If the list does not show a type, you cannot send that document to them via Peppol.
Do you keep my lookups?
We keep the result in a temporary cache for up to one hour, without any link to who made the lookup. More in our privacy policy (in Dutch).
More background on how the tools work is on Peppol tools. The checker shows what the Peppol registries contain, not whether the law requires a company to receive e-invoices.
