E-invoicing news from Belgium: updates on e-invoicing and Peppol, translated from our Dutch blog. We publish a new article as soon as a rule changes.

E-invoicing news from Belgium

On this blog, we follow the e-invoicing news in Belgium closely. We are Philippe Kimpe and Jelle Heyvaert, the authors of the book E-facturatie Ontcijferd. In each post, we explain what changes and what it means for you in practice.

What do we write about?

Since 1 January 2026, Belgian businesses send and receive their invoices to each other electronically. This obligation therefore raises many questions. We mainly write about three topics:

  • Legislation: what the VAT law and the royal decrees require, and what is still changing.
  • Technology: how Peppol, UBL and the European standard EN 16931 work together, and why an Access Point sometimes rejects an invoice.
  • Practice: what businesses and accountants need to arrange today, from choosing software to storing invoices.

Who do we write for?

Our articles are for business owners, bookkeepers, accountants and software vendors. You do not need a technical background. Where a topic gets technical, we first explain every term. In addition, we refer to the book, to our free tools and to the error codes you see when an invoice does not pass.

We publish a new article as soon as something important changes, for example a new Peppol release or an update of the rules. Moreover, the Federal Public Service Finance publishes the official information on efactuur.belgium.be. Looking for a quick answer instead?
