Press release. From 1 January 2026, structured electronic invoicing becomes mandatory for almost all Belgian VAT-registered businesses. However, what that means in practice remains unclear for many business owners and accountants. What is Peppol? And what does XML involve? How do you deal with this transition? The new book E-facturatie Ontcijferd by Philippe Kimpe and Jelle Heyvaert offers clear, reliable and practical answers, both technical and legal. The authors wrote the book in Dutch.
Clear, neutral and practical
The authors start from the questions they hear every day in their work with business owners and accountants. How does Peppol work in practice? Which data is mandatory? What about pro forma invoices? The book answers these questions clearly and without technical detours. The explanations apply in any context, independent of platforms or specific software packages.
“E-invoicing is not a technical side issue. It fundamentally changes how companies exchange information and organise their processes,” says Philippe Kimpe. “In this book we show how to tackle that shift concretely and thoughtfully.”
Technology, legislation and exceptions in one overview
E-facturatie Ontcijferd brings structure to a complex landscape. The authors show how an e-invoice works technically, which standards apply within Peppol and what the legal framework requires. Moreover, the book also covers exceptions and specific situations, such as article 44, self-billing and small businesses. The result is an accessible guide for anyone who has to work with e-invoicing professionally.
“E-invoicing is like a puzzle: legal, technical and practical pieces have to fit together exactly,” says Jelle Heyvaert. “This book was written to bring clarity and make direct application possible.”
